Chris Huhne and the Liberal Democrats oppose the compulsory fluoridation of the local water supply, arguing that the benefits are overstated and the scientific evidence shows that the risks are greater than was once thought.

Chris has called for a local ballot on the fluoridation plan, and has criticised the NHS for going ahead with adding fluoride to local drinking water despite more than two thirds of all responses to the official consultation being against it. Chris says that the NHS ought to listen to local people, and not ride roughshod over our wishes.
