Nuclear technology is prohibitively expensive

In response to the announcement by the NAO that British Energy's liabilities have gone up to £5bn, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP, said:

"This is yet more evidence of how expensive nuclear power is.

"If we build more nuclear power stations in the future, even more money which could be invested in genuinely sustainable and environmentally friendly forms of power generation will be wasted."
