ARCTIC SEA ICE STUDY RESULTS ALARMING - HUHNE

Commenting on the data presented to the American Geophysical Union, suggesting that Arctic sea ice is no longer showing a robust recovery from the summer melt, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said:

"This study provides more alarming evidence that the climate is worsening at a faster rate than the political world is improving.

"This effect is self-perpetuating. Less sea ice means less reflection of the sun rays and so more absorption of heat by the sea, which will lead to more climate chaos.

"This is a wake-up call to those politicians, like Gordon Brown, who are still delaying the necessary measures to tackle climate change."
