WE MUST ACT QUICKLY TO HALT CLIMATE CHANGE - HUHNE

Commenting on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC) report, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said:
"This report is a cautious and consensual statement of the overwhelming scientific evidence that we have to act quickly.
"Man-made climate change poses an increasing risk to people and businesses across the globe. There will be disastrous consequences if we don't act now. The economic evidence, following the Stern Review, is clear - tackling this challenge is both achievable and affordable.
"Rather than tinkering around the edges, Gordon Brown must now make a serious effort to use the tax system to change peoples' behaviour. We need greener and fairer taxes, but not higher taxes overall."
