DNA of innocent people should not be held indefinitely12.00.00am GMT Wed 9th Jan 2008
Commenting on the news that ministers are funding a major inquiry into the operation of the police DNA database, Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary, Chris Huhne said: "DNA should only be kept if you have a criminal conviction. The Government has no business holding DNA records of innocent citizens indefinitely. "The Government must curb its tendency to head for the most authoritarian solutions of a police state."
