Government getting into more hot water over police pay decision12.00.00am GMT Mon 4th Feb 2008 Commenting on the news that the Police Federation has been given permission to launch a High Court challenge to the Government decision not to backdate their pay rise, Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary, Chris Huhne said: "The Government is getting into more and more hot water on this police pay decision, because it is trying to defend the indefensible. "It has breached trust with the police because you cannot deprive a group of the right to strike, and even the right to have a second job, while at the same time failing to honour arbitration arrangements on pay."
