Pay decision does nothing to restore police morale

12.00.00am GMT Tue 10th Jun 2008

Commenting on the High Court ruling that the Home Secretary did not break the law in failing to grant the Police the full pay rise recommended by police Arbitration Tribunal, Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary, Chris Huhne said:

"This is a great disappointment which will do nothing to restore morale in the police force.

"This is the first Government that has failed to honour a Police Arbitration Tribunal decision, and its breach of faith is reaping a bitter harvest."
