NOW FIGHT HAMBLE GRAVEL PIT

5.19.28pm GMT Tue 17th Jun 2008

Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne today backed local residents fighting a plan to turn Hamble airfield into one of the biggest gravel pits in the south east of England.

Mr Huhne said that the Hamble peninsula campaign had already notched up one key victory by forcing Hampshire County Council to ditch plans for a gravel pit on Pickwell farm between Old Netley and Butlock's Heath.

"We've won a battle, now let's win the war" said Mr Huhne.

"I am appealing to every local resident to write to Cllr Ken Thornber at the Tory-controlled council so that he understands the strength of feeling about this".

Cllr Ken Thornber, Leader, Hampshire County Council, The Castle, Winchester, Hampshire SO23 8ZB.
