Illegal bosses clampdown better late than never - Huhne

12.00.00am GMT Thu 19th Jun 2008

Commenting on the Government's announcement of new measures to crack down on companies which employ illegal migrants, Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary, Chris Huhne said:

"It has taken ten years for this Government to work out that the best way to tackle illegal immigration is by cracking down on rogue bosses.

"It is better late than never, but it does not say much for the urgency with which ministers are tackling our chaotic controls on migration.

"We need exit checks immediately so we can be sure that the terms of temporary visas are respected."
