Ministers cannot be trusted with intrusive database

12.00.00am GMT Fri 26th Sep 2008

Commenting on today's Home Office report which recommends the Government review its handling of data loss incidents, Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary, Chris Huhne said:

"The Home Office not only needs to review the way it handles data losses, but the Government's whole slapdash approach to data security.

"The sooner ministers realise that they cannot be trusted to run the most extensive and intrusive database in the world, the safer we will all be."
