MP Celebrates Two Thousand Warmer Homes in Eastleigh

Friday 1 January 2010

Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne welcomed the news that more than two thousand homes in Eastleigh had benefited from the Warm Front Scheme to increase energy efficiency and cut energy bills, saving between £300 and £600 a year.

Warm Front provides contributions of up to £2,700 towards insulation and gas heating measures and £4,000 towards oil for the elderly, disabled and low income families. Warm Front also provides free benefit entitlement checks, and has raised weekly incomes by £24 in Eastleigh households.

Chris Huhne said:”As winter bears down hard, I am deeply concerned about those increasingly burdened by higher energy bills.”

“Energy efficiency measures are vital to tackling climate change, but they also make a real and immediate difference to household income. I am determined that we should end fuel poverty in Eastleigh, and I welcome schemes such as Warm Front that contribute to this end.”

Residents can check their eligibility for the Warm Front scheme by calling 0800 316 6014.
