EU MUST PLAY KEY ROLE IN TACKLING CLIMATE CHANGE – HUHNE

Commenting ahead of the EU leaders’ summit to agree the terms of a pollution-cutting energy policy to answer growing pressure for action on climate change, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said:

“The EU has a key role in creating an international climate change treaty when the Kyoto Protocol runs out in 2012.

“The time for a major global initiative from European leaders is now. Businesses are already complaining about uncertainty for their investments.

“Britain should be at the forefront of this most pressing global policy challenge.”
