Supermarket power must be properly restrained
Responding to the OFT’s referral of the UK grocery market to the Competition Commission, Liberal Democrat Shadow DEFRA Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said:
“This belated but welcome move must ensure a halt in the loss of small suppliers and loss of choice in communities caused by growing supermarket power.
“It’s clear we now need a legally binding code to ensure all supermarkets do not exploit farmers and consumers.”
