Arnie’s green fuel agreement should encourage Blair to terminate nuclear obsession

Commenting ahead of the signing later today of the joint agreement between Sweden and California on co-operation on the joint development of biogas as an alternative fuel, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said:

“Last week the Prime Minister announced a new joint initiative on nuclear power with President Chirac, pressing ahead disgracefully with a pro-nuclear policy before the publication of his own energy review.

“The Swedish-California biogas co-operation agreement is exactly the sort of agreement that the UK should be entering into instead.

“Nuclear is a tried, tested and failed technology, with demonstrably higher costs than the renewable alternatives.”
