Stricter migrant work rules will be undermined without exit checks

Commenting on the Government’s publication of a list of jobs which will be open to immigrants from outside the EU, Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary, Chris Huhne said:

“Stricter rules governing working visas will be undermined unless the Government reintroduces exit checks.

“There is little point in tightening the rules if no one is checking whether visitors are leaving the country when they are supposed to.

“The Government must also ensure that the system is flexible enough to take account of business and local needs.”
