SAINSBURY’S ANNOUNCEMENT WELCOME BUT SUPERMARKETS SHOULD AIM TO DO MORE – HUHNE
Commenting on reports that supermarket Sainsbury’s is to sell more than 500 of its own-brand products in compostable packs instead of plastic, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said:
“It is good news that the supermarkets are beginning to compete by being greener than thou, but they’re still a long way from green heaven.
“It would be good for them to aim at 100% recyclable packaging.”
